An 11 year old girl named Grace Bedell wrote a letter to Abraham Lincoln stating that she wants him to be the president of United States . She provides a brief description of her family to him that she has 4 brothers one small sister and she says that she will tell her brothers to vote for you if he grows his whiskers . Whiskers would look great on your thin face . All ladies like whiskers and they will force their husbands to vote for you . 

As a reply to Grace Bedell , Abraham Lincoln writes a letter to her stating that I regret the necessity of saying I have no daughters. I have three sons -- one seventeen, one nine, and one seven, years of age. They, with their mother, constitute my whole family.
